International Commission of Jurists (ICJ): Ethiopian Leaders to Face a Trial for Genocide

The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) reported to have begun to work to bring Ethiopian authorities to justice for having committed a genocide in the Ogaden region. The International Commission of Jurists is a known international human rights organization composed of jurists (including senior judges, attorneys, and lawyers). The commission is known for its dedication to ensuring respect for international human rights standards through the law.

The report came right after different Swedish TV channels showed a movie smuggled out from Ogaden by an Ethiopian refugee, who had been a government official in the region. The 100 hours long movie is said to have many evidences of genocide committed by the Ethiopian government in the region.

Speaking to journalists, Stellan Diaphragm, the commissioner of the Commission, said that he would do everything necessary to bring the case to the International Criminal Court (ICC).

Reports indicate that although Ethiopia is not a member of the ICC, the country can possibly face trial for crimes under international law.

The Ogaden region is a territory in Eastern part of Ethiopia, and populated mainly by ethnic Somalis. Since 2007, the region has been a site of brutal struggle between the government troops and the Ogaden National Liberation Front (ONLF), a rebel group seeking for more autonomy for the region.

Different human right organizations accuse the Ethiopian government of committing grave human right violation (including genocide) against the civilians in attempt to control the ONLF’s public support.

According to the Genocide Wach, the crimes committed in the region include extrajudicial killings, arbitrary detention, rape, torture, disappearances, the destruction of livelihood, the burning of villages and the destroying of life stock.

የተለያዩ ፖሊቲካል አክቲቪስቶች ስደት የሚፈጠረው በአንድ ሃገር የአስተዳደር ብልሹነት፥ እንደዜጋ አለመቆጠር፥ የመናገር፥ የመፃፍና የመደራጀት መበቶች ከመነፈግም አልፎ የአንድ ዘር የበላይነት በሃገሪቷ ላይ ስለሰፈነ ዜጎች ስደትን እንደአማራጭ ይወስዳሉ፥ ሆኖም ግን ስደት አማራጭ ይሁን እንጂ ለስደት መንስዔ የሆነው የወያኔ ስርአት የሚወገድበትን መንገድ ባንድነት ተባብሮ መስራት ሲቻል እንደሆነ አስገንዝበው ለዚህም አማራጩ መደራጀትና ባሃገር ውስጥም ሆነ በውጭ ሃገር እየተደረገ ያለውን ከሰላማዊ ትግል አንስቶ እስከ ትጥቅ ትግል የሚያረጉ ሃይሎችን መደገፋና ትግሉን በመቀላቀል እንደሆነ አስገንዝበዋል፥፥

Ethiopians in Norway vowed to stand beside Ginbot 7 popular force

On 28^th of September 2013, successful fundraising was conducted for Ginbot 7 Popular Force (G7pf), recently established and struggling against the woyane junta. The fundraising event, staged from 4:00 – 12:00 p.m. local time, was coordinated by a taskforce established by Democratic Change in Ethiopia Support Organization in Norway (DCESON). The event was able to attract many participants from all over Norway and other European countries. The event was one of the success stories in the history of fundraising in terms of both participation and raised amount of money.

The official announcement of the founding of the Ginbot 7 people`s force has been a positive development and was welcomed by most Ethiopians living in Norway. Ginbot 7 popular force has added a momentum to the struggle and elevated the moral and hope of many Ethiopians living in Norway. The formation of this force marks a new and decisive phase in the struggle against the racist and fascist rule of the Tigray People`s Liberation Front (TPLF) in Ethiopia. Hence, the enthusiasm, inspiration and increased degree of engagement that were witnessed during the event reflected the aspirations and commitments of the participants. Besides, it shows that the force has been able to garner an increasing and widespread support in Norway and inevitably in other parts of the Diaspora at the moment.

The DCESON has been supporting the struggle for democracy, freedom and justice in Ethiopia starting from the pre-kinijit time. The current fundraising event is purely the initiative of DCESON and it was conducted by forming a taskforce consisting of its committed members. DCESON took this mission as a national and timely one and undertook extensive planning and mobilization tasks. On the other hand, the agents of the TPLF and their supporters made futile attempts and campaigns to undermine and hamper this event. This shows that the formation of an armed Ethiopian resistance force has frightened and alarmed the TPLF camp and regime.

Ato Andargachew Tsege, the secretary of the Ginbot 7 Movement for Justice and Freedom and Democracy and Commander Assefa Maru, chief of Ginbot 7 Popular Force, were the guests of the event. The guests received a standing ovation in the event hall which was decorated with the Ethiopian flag and symbols of the popular force.

The event had a series of programs which went on as planned. After the program of the day was announced by Ato Abi Amare, leader of the PR group, opening remarks were given by preventative of the taskforce, Ato Worku Tadesse. A keynote address was given by the chairperson of the DCESON Ato Dawit Mekonnen. Representatives of the Ethiopian asylum seekers` association, w/t Sara Girma, DCESON women’s branch, w/o Guenet Worku, Chairperson of DCESON-Women’s section, W/t Lemlem Andarge, DCESON-Bergen branch, Ato Shume Werku gave speeches to the audience. In addition, W/t Kalkidan Kassahun from Steinskjer, Ato Sally Abraham from Vestness, also held speeches that focused on the significance of the event and the need for increased struggle against the TPLF rule in Ethiopia.  Moreover, the representative of the Tigray People Democratic Movement (TPDM) in Norway, Ato Haile Asmamaw, addressed the event and played the audiovisual message to all Ethiopians sent from the field.

The younger members of the DCESON in fatigues were a unique addition to the event.

Ato Andargachew outlined the tasks and current activities of the force and presented footage showing the training and preparations of the force out in the field. He also mentioned the cooperation with the Tigray People`s Democratic Movement (TPDM), hardships the members of the force undergo and the sacrifices they pay.

Commander Assefa Maru spoke on his part about the objectives, tasks and missions of the force. In his speech, he explained the importance of an armed force and resistance to remove the TPLF from power and pave the way for a democratic and an all-inclusive political system in Ethiopia. He underscored the commitment of the force to achieve its goal and necessity of offering help and support to the force

The audience learnt from the two guests that Ginbot 7 Popular Force is established by freedom-loving Ethiopians, including youngsters and intellectuals and it is working to remove TPLF by force and to create a peaceful transition period enabling establishment of non-partisan and constitutional defense, police, security, judiciary, etc. which are crucial for a healthy playground for different political parties aspiring power in the country. Among the current G7PF members are many intellectuals who joined this force abandoning their relatively comfortable living, families and professional jobs. This is one of the peculiarities of the G7PF compared to traditional armed struggles in Ethiopia where mainly farmers and other non-intellectuals comprise the main components of the foot soldiers. Presence of skillful leadership on the ground is told to highly assist G7PF members equip not only with armament but also with political, social, cultural knowledge about Ethiopia which is important to build a force that understands why and whom they are fighting for and paying sacrifices.

Food and refreshments were served during the event. Ethiopian music and live performances were staged to make the event entertaining and enjoyable. A short drama showing the atrocities of the TPLF regime in Ethiopia, written by w/t Mihret Ashine, was also presented.

The latter parts of the event were devoted to auctions meant for raising money as planned. The inspiration and enthusiasm of auction hosts, Ato Million Abebe and Ato Amsal Kasie, was the driving force for the high sum of money raised during the auction. The financial contributions of the participants and others, including attendants of the Ethiopian Current Affairs Discussion Forum (ECADF) were high and laudable.

The successful staging of the event was made possible through the cooperation and contributions of the participants as a whole. This event demonstrated what Ethiopians in the diaspora can achieve through cooperation and working together for a common goal.

The fundraising taskforce and DCESON extend their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to all the participants, contributors and huge thanks to all Ethiopians from all over Norway.

As we all know on April 20,2013 TPLF send two representatives from the Ethiopian Embassy in Stockholm with the agenda of Nile dam fundraising program in Stavanger, Norway and close to 300 Ethiopians in Norway has present in the meeting and brought their question of Justice, freedom and Human Rights but the representatives who has been in the place came up with their own agenda and ignored the mass voice as TPLF usually does. Because of this reason the Ethiopians get angry and shout justice and Freedom before Nile dam and express their opposition clearlly they will not cooprate with TPLF’s agenda before their question for justice has been answered ,so that the Norwegian Polices stopped the program before things are getting worse. "Despite a demonstration of asylum seekers conspired by anti-peace and development forces, the compatriots purchased government saving bonds worth a quarter million Birr in support of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project. 

Office of the FDRE Consul General in Stockholm had organized a discussion forum Stavanger on Saturday, April 20, 2013 in collaboration with Ethiopian community members in the city. 

The forum was aimed at selling government saving bonds for the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project briefing participants on the services of the Consul General Office. 

Eventhough the meeting was interrupted for a while by certain anti-peace and development forces used asylum seekers for their evil cause, it was resumed in a different venue by peace loving Ethiopians and foreigners of Ethiopian origin who raised a quarter million Birr the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam project from bond sales. 

"Our development endeavors will never be obstructed by certain selfish individuals who wish to create turmoil in the country for their own personal gains," said Office of the FDRE Consul General in Stockholm in a statement

Ethiopian authorities are torturing and mistreating political detainees to extract confessions, Human Rights Watch says.

The US-based group says former prisoners at the main detention centre in Addis Ababa described being beaten and kicked during interrogation.

It accuses Ethiopia of using anti-terrorism laws to stifle dissent.

The government has dismissed the report as biased and lacking credible evidence, according to AFP news agency.

The report by HRW says police investigators at Maekelawi prison use illegal interrogation methods, keep inmates in poor detention conditions, and routinely deny them access to a lawyer.

Former detainees reported "being held in painful stress positions for hours upon end, hung from the wall by their wrists, often while being beaten", it said.

'Culture of impunity'

"Ethiopian authorities right in the heart of the capital regularly use abuse to gather information," said Leslie Lefkow, HRW's deputy Africa director.

"Beatings, torture, and coerced confessions are no way to deal with journalists or the political opposition."

Swedish journalist Martin Schibbye spent more than 400 days in an Ethiopian jail

She called on the Ethiopian government to "root out the underlying culture of impunity".

But Ethiopian authorities said the report was "extremely biased and ideologically marred".

"They haven't come up with any proof," government spokesman Shimeles Kemal told AFP. He criticised the study for basing its findings on testimonials from 35 former inmates and their families, rather than an on-sight investigation.

Among the former inmates interviewed was Martin Schibbye, a Swedish journalist convicted of entering the country illegally and supporting a rebel group.

Protesters took to the streets in the Ethiopian capital in June to demand the release of jailed journalists and activists.

It was the first major demonstration in Addis Ababa since 2005 when hundreds of protesters were killed in violence.

Ethiopia's Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn took office in September 2012 following the death of Meles Zenawi.

The Committee to Protect Journalists says the country is close to replacing Eritrea as the African country with the most journalists behind bars.

October 5, 2013 (Press TV) — During the month of September alone, two anti-government protests were held in the streets of Ethiopia’s capital Addis Ababa. The protesters led by leaders of opposition political parties decried among other things the anti terrorism law passed by the Ethiopian parliament in 2009, claiming that it is targeting journalists and political leaders. Now the prime minister of Ethiopia, Hailemariam Desalegn has responded to these protests saying that the government has proof which shows some of the opposition leaders leading these anti government demonstrations are linked to armed terrorism groups operating inside the country. In June 2011, the Ethiopian government labeled three political parties as terrorist groups, under the country’s anti-terrorism proclamation. The parties are Ginbot 7, the Ogaden National Liberation Front, and Oromo Liberation Front .The Ethiopian premier claims that some leaders of these parties have even attempted attacks on the African Union. Ethiopia has 99 opposition political parties. Prime Minister Desalegn says his government respects the voice of these parties but says he wills not jeopardize the security of his country just when those demanding for democracy have been proved to be a threat. Ethiopia’s Prime Minister Hailemariam Desalegn says that there is nothing wrong with the anti terrorism law the country adopted in 2009, since it was drafted according to internationally-accepted standards. As such, he says the opposition praying for its (or his, I mean the PM) withdrawal is just having wishful thinking.

የተካተቱትን የዜጎችን መብት በመሻር ሃገሪቱን የምድር ሲኦል አርገዋታል፡፡ በሃገሪቱ ህገ-
መንግስት መሰረት መብታቸውን አውቀው የተቋቋሙ የሞያ ማህበራትም ሆኑ የፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች
በራሳቸውም ሆነ በስርዓቱ ተጽእኖ ይህ ነው የማይባል ተግባራት ሳይከውኑ በዘረኛው ስርዓት
እየተኮረኮሙ ይፈርሳሉ አልይም በሞኖፖል በተያዘው የፍትህ ስርዓት ተወንጅለው በግፍ በእስር
ይማቅቃሉ፡፡
ከአመታት በኋላ ፍርሃታቸውን አሸንፈው የወያኔ መናጆ መሆን ይበቃናል ብለው ህገ-
መንግስቱ የሚፈቅድላቸውን መብት ለመጠቀም ከዚህ በፊት ባልተለመደ መልኩ ወያኔን
እምቢኝ እያሉ ያሉት በአገር ውስጥ በሰላማዊ መንገድ የሚታገሉት ጥቂት የፖለቲካ
ድርጅቶች መብታቸውን ተጠቅመው የሚያደርጉት የሰላማዊ ትግል መርህ የዚህን ዘረኛ
ስርዓት ማንነት ፍንትው አድርጎ ያሳየን አጋጣሚ ነው፡፡ ምንም እንኳን የኢትዮጲያ ሕዝብ
ስለወያኔ ማንነትና ምንነት የጠለቅ ግንዛቤ ቢኖረውም በዚህ ደረጃ በወረደና በዘቀጠ ማፊያ
ቡድን እንደምንመራ ማመን በእጅጉ ይክብዳል፡፡
አንድ የፖለቲካ ድርጅት እንደ ድርጅት ምልኡ የሚሆነው የተነሳለትን አላማና እቅድ
እንዲሁም የሕዝብን መሰረታዊ የመብት ጥያቄዎች ተግባራዊ ምላሽ እንዲያገኙ በፅናት
መታገል ሲችል ነው፡፡ እንደ ወያኔ ያለ አምባገነን ስርዓት አፍኖ ለያዘው የሕዝብ የመብት
ጥያቄ ምላሽ የሚሰጠው በተፅኖ እንጂ በችሮታ አይደለም፡፡ ለሚጠየቀው ህገ መንግስታዊ
የሕዝብ ጥያቄ ተገቢውን ምላሽ እንዲሰጥ አይጠበቅም አምባገነን ነውና፡፡ ስለሆነም መብቱን
የሚያስከብር ለምን?! እንዴት?! በቃኝ፣! እምቢ! የሚል የሕዝብ አደረጃጀት እንዲኖር
የፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች በተገቢው ደረጃ ሕዝብን ማደራጀትና መርሆና፣ እቅዳቸውን ማስረፅ
እንዲሁም ለለውጥ የተዘጋጀ ትግሉን ከዳር ሊያደርስ የሚችል ፍርሃቱን የሰበረ የህብረተሰብ
ሃይል ሊገነቡ ግድ ይላቸዋል፡፡ ይህንን ህዝብ ለትግል በማነፅ የግፍ ቀንበሩን ከጫንቃው ላይ ማውረድ የሕዝብ ወገን ነን
ከሚሉ የፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች የሚጠበቅ ተግባር ነው፡፡ የትኛውም የትግል ስልት አይነቱ
ይለያይ እንጂ ቁርጠኝነትና መስዋትነት ይፈልጋል ስለዚህም አታጋዮቻችን መገንዘብ
ያለባቸው የምንጠይቀው የሕዝብ መብት ወያኔ በችሮታ የሚሰጠን የኛ ያልሆነ ሳይሆን
ሰብአዊ ፍጡር በመሆናችን ልናገኝ የሚገባን እውነታችን እንደሆነ ሊገነዘቡ ይገባል፡፡ እናም
ለእውነት ዋጋ ለመከፈል ዝግጁነት ያስፈልገናል፡፡ ትግሉ በከረረ ቁጥር ዘረኛው ስርዓት
ማጣፊያ ሲያጥረው ለሚወስደው ማንኛውም እርምጃ መቋቋም በሚያስችል መልኩ ጠንካራ
አደረጃጀት ሊኖረን ግድ ይላል ፡፡
የወያኔ ዘረኛ ቡድን ህገ መንግስቱ የሚፈቅድልንን ለቁጥር የሚታክቱ መብቶቻችንን
ቢነፍገንም፣ ሚያዚያ 30 1997ዓ.ም የነበረውን የቅንጅት የድጋፍ ሰልፍ ተከትሎ ለስምንት
አመታት ቀምቶን የነበረውን ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ የማድረግ ህገ መንግስታዊ መብታችንን
ለማስመለስ ከአመታት በሗላ በወጣቶች ለተደራጀው ሰማያዊ ፓርቲ ምስጋና ይግባውና
እጅግ በተጠና ወቅትና ጊዜ የመሰለፍ መብታችንን ከገዢዎቻችን እጅ አውጥቶ በሕዝቡም
ላይ የተጫነውን የፍርሃት ድባብ በመግፈፍ እረገድ ሃላፊነቱን ተወቷል፡፡
ከዚህ አኳያ የረፈደ ቢመስልም በአሁኑ ወቅት በሃገር ውስጥ እየተከናወኑ ያሉ የሰላማዊ
ትግል እንቅስቃሴዎች ለዘረኛው ቡድን የራስምታት መሆናቸው አያጠያይቅም፡፡
የሰማያዊ ፓርቲ ስኬት ለሌሎቹ እንደ ማንቂያ ደውል በመሆኑ አንድነት ፓርቲም
የሚሊዮኖች ድምጽ ለነጻነት በሚል መሪ ቃል በክልል ከተሞችና በአዲስ አበባ እጅግ ፈታኝና
ከእልህ አስጨራሽ ትግል በኋላ የተሳካለት ሊባል የሚችል ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ አድርጓል፡፡
99.6 የሕዝብ ድምጽ አለኝ የሚለው የወያኔ ዘረኛ ቡድን በመልካም አስተዳደር ችግርና በኑሮ
ውድነት እንዲሁም በፍትህ መጓደል የተንገሸገሸውን ሕዝብ በመፍራት ሰልፉን ለማደናቀፍ
የቻለውን ያህል ቢጥርም መሰዋትነት ለመክፈል በቆረጡ የድርጅቱ አመራርና ጠንካራ አባላት
ጥረት የታሰበውን ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ ማስተጓጎል ሳይቻለው ቀርቷል፡፡
ይህ የሚያሳየው በነፃነት የመኖር ሰዋዊ መብታችንን በአፋኝ አምባገነን መሪዎች መነጠቃችንን
ነው፡፡ ስለሆነም መብታችንን ለማስመለስ(ለማስጠበቅ) አስገዳጅ የትግል ስልት
እንደሚያስፈልገን አጠያያቂ አይደለም፡፡ በመሆኑም አሁን ያለውን የሕዝብ ለነጻነትና ለትግል
የመነሳሳት መንፈስ በተጠናከረና በተደራጀ መልኩ ለማስቀጠል ቁርጠኛ እርምጃ መውሰድ
ይጠበቅብናል፡፡ በዘረኞች ለሚፈበረኩና ነጻነት የሚነፍጉ ህግጋቶችን እምቢ፣ አሻፈረኝ የሚል
ህዝብ ለመፍጠር የድርጅት አመራሮች ከዚህ በተሻለ በቁርጠኝነት መስራት ይኖርባቸዋል፡፡

ጠ/ሚኒስትር ኃይለማርያም የተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎች ሰልፍ ላይቀጥል ይችላል አሉ

ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎች በተለያዩ የአገሪቱ ክፍሎች የሚያደርጓቸው የተቃውሞ ሰልፎች ተደጋጋሚና መንግስት አቋም የያዘባቸውን ጉዳዮች የሚያነሱ እንደሆኑ የጠቆሙት ጠ/ሚኒስትር ኃ/ማርያም ደሳለኝ፤ መንግስት ለእያንዳንዱ ሰልፍ ጥበቃ ማድረግ ስለማይችል ሰልፎቹ በተለመደው መልኩ ላይቀጥሉ እንደሚችሉ ተናግረዋል፡፡ ጠ/ሚ ኃይለማርያም ደሳለኝ ትናንት በጽ/ቤታቸው ለጋዜጠኞች በሰጡት መግለጫ፤ ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎቹ የሚያነሷቸው ጥያቄዎች የራሳቸው የፓርቲዎቹ ሳይሆኑ የሌሎች ሃይሎች እንደሆኑ ገልፀዋል፡፡

ፓርቲዎቹ ሰልፍ ማካሄድ ህገመንግስታዊ መብታቸው መሆኑን የጠቀሱት ጠ/ሚኒስትሩ፤ መንግስት በተደጋጋሚ ጥበቃ ሲያደርግ ቢቆይም፣ በሰልፎቹ የሚነሱት ጥያቄዎች ፋይዳ ቢስ ከመሆናቸውና ከፓርቲዎቹ ብዛት አንፃር መንግስት በቀጣይ ለሰልፎች ጥበቃ ለማድረግ የሚቸገርበት ሁኔታ ሊፈጠር እንደሚችል አስረድተዋል፡፡

ተቃዋሚ ፓርቲዎች፤ መንግስት በተደጋጋሚ ምላሽ የሰጠባቸውን ጥያቄዎች መላልሰው የሚያቀርቡት በመንግስት ላይ ጫና በመፍጠር አቋሙን ለማስቀየር በማሰብ ሊሆን ይችላል ያሉት ጠ/ሚኒስትሩ፤ ይሄ ግን በፍፁም የማይሳካ ሃሳብ ነው ብለዋል፡፡ “ግንቦት ሰባት” በቅርቡ መንግስትን ለመጣል ወታደራዊ እርምጃ እንደሚወስድ በይፋ መግለፁን በተመለከተ ተጠይቀው ሲመልሱም፣ የፓርቲው አመራሮችና ደጋፊዎች ተጨባጭ ያልሆነ ህልም ውስጥ ሆነው የተናገሩት ነገር እንደሆነና ከህልማቸው ሲነቁ እውነታውን እንደሚገነዘቡት ጠ/ሚኒስትሩ ተናግረዋል፡፡ ኢህአዴግ ውስጥ መከፋፈልና የሃይል መጠባበቅ አለ የሚለውን መረጃ በተመለከተም “ይህ የአንዳንድ አፍራሽ ሃይሎች ከንቱ ምኞትና ተጨባጭ ያልሆነ አሉባልታ ነው” ሲሉ አጣጥለውታል፡፡ addisadmas

የድል ቀን እንዲፋጠን ሁላችንም እጅ ለእጅ ተያይዘን እንነሳ!

ማን ነው የሚለየው? የሚደፍረው?

የማደንቃቸው ሮቤል አባቢያ ዲሞክራሲ ከደጅ እያንኳኳ ነው በሚለው ጽሁፋቸው ዘመነኛ ቀስቃሽና ነገን አመላካች የሆኑ
የዜማ ርዕሶችን እያደናነቁ የሀገራችንን ትንሳዔ ህልውና አብሳሪ የሆነውን ቀስተደመና መሰል ሰንደቅዓላማ ወጣቶች ከፍ
አድርገው ስለማውለብለባቸው በውብ ብዕራቸው ከኛም አልፎ ሌሎች እንዲረዱት በእንግሊዝኛ አቅርበውት ነበር።
ፕሮፌሰር አለማየሁም ይህንን ከሰጡት በላይ መልሶ ለመስጠት የተዘጋጀን አቦሸማኔ ወጣት ትውልድ አድንቀው ጽፈዋል።
ልሂቃኑ ባሉት ላይ በማከል የሀገራችንን ትንሳዔ በወጣቶቻችን ለነፃነት ቀናዒነትና አልበገር ባይነት እናይ ዘንድ እውነት
መሆኑን የሚያመለክት ከዘረኝነት በላይ፣ ከሀይማኖት ልዩነትም ያለፈ፣ ከፖለቲካ ድርጅቶች አጥርም የዘለለ ሀገራዊ
አንድነቱን ከፍ ያደረገ ማንነትን ሲገልጹ ማየት እጅግ አኩሪ መሆኑን ደግሞ ደጋግሞ መናገር ያስደስታል።
አዛውንቱን አግልሎ ወጣቱን በሉ በሉ የሚል ወይም ወጣቱን አርክሶ ጀግና ድሮ ቀረ የሚል ዘመናትን አገናኝ የሆነውን
ድልድይ አፍራሽና የትውልድን ቅብብሎሽ የሚያረክስ ሀሳብ ስሜታዊ በሆኑ ወገኖች እየተነገረ ሚዛናዊነት ሲጠፋ፣ ተስፋ
ቆራጭነትም ሲስፋፋ ተመልክተን ነበር። ከወጣቶቹ አንዱ ቴዲ አፍሮ “ያለ ትናንት ዛሬ የለም።” እንዳለው መወራረስና
መደጋገፍን ከፍ ማድረጉ አስፈላጊ ነው። ዛሬ ያለው እውነት ትናንት ሆኖ ባለፈው ድርጊት ላይ መሰረቱን ይጥላልና።
ለዚህም ነው በትናንቱ ሁሉን አቀፍ ታሪካዊ ስህተት ተቀፍድደን፣ ዛሬን ሁሉን ነገር ተነጥቀን ላለማለፍ የትናንቱ ስህተት
እንዳይደገም፣ ሸፍጥና መጠላለፍም የነገን ተስፋ እንዳያሳጣን አምቢ በል ለሚሉት ተረካቢ ወጣቶች እውቀትና ብልህነት
በትግሉ ለሰነበቱ አዛውንቶችም ለብሄራዊ እርቅ ብርታትና ጥንካሬን መመኘት ተገቢ የሚሆነው።
የወጣት እድሜ ክልሉ እስከ 30 ከዘለቀ የዛሬዎቹ ወጣቶች በዚህ ምድር በተመላለሱበት ጊዜ ሁሉ ሀገራቸውን እንዲጠሉ፣
በሀገራቸውና በታሪካቸው እንዳይኮሩ የተገደዱና ሀገር ለዜጎችዋ ልትሰጥ የሚገባት ሁሉ ያልተሰጣቸው እንዲያውም
ህልማቸው ስደት፣ ስኬታቸውን በግርድናና ባርነት እንዲለኩ የተገፉቱ ናቸው። የአምባገነኖች አፍራሽ ፕሮፓጋንዳ፣
ጎሰኛነትንና ጥላቻን በሚያስፋፉ ቡድኖች ሁሉ በግድ ጥላቻን በጡጦ የተጋቱት ናቸው በወጣት ቅንፍ ውስጥ ያሉትና ሀገር
ከተረፈችላቸው የነገዎቹ ተረካቢዎች የሚሆኑት። ሀያ ሁለት ዐመት በአዋጅና በተግባር የተደረገው የጥላቻ ዘመቻ ሁሉ ከሽፎ
ክፋትን የዘሩ ቁንጮዎቹ የሰረቁትን እንኳን ሳይበሉ በጠሉት ባንዲራ ተጠቅለው አፈር ሲረግጣቸው ወጣቱ ግን
በመቃብራቸው ላይ ቆሞ ስለሀገሩ ይዘምራል፣ ስለመብቱ ይታገላል፣ ስለነፃነቱም ባደባባይ ይሰለፋል ነፍጥ አንስቶም
ይፋለማል። “ማን ነው የሚለየን?” የሚለው ዘመነኛ ዜማ በቀረርቶ ታጅቦ ሲንቆረቆር ወጣቱ ከትውልድ የወረሰውንና
ለትውልድ የሚያወርሰውን አጣምሮ የተቀኘው ነውና ይመስጣል።
የኢትዮጵያ ወጣቶች ፈጥነውና መጥቀው ዛሬን አልሰጥም ብለው ሀላፊነታቸውን ተቀብለውታል። ርዕዮት አለሙ የዚህ
ምስክር ናት ወጣትነትና ሴትነት ያላገደው ኩራትና ቆራጥነትን በምትከፍለው መስዋዕትነት እያስተማረች በምትክዋ ሺህ
ወጣት ሴቶች በሚያኮራ መንገድ ወደ ትግሉ እንዲቀላቀሉ አርአያ እየሆነች ነው። አንድ ርዕዮትን በምሳሌነት ስንጠራ በሺህ
የሚቆጠሩ በየአደባባዩ ለነጻነት የሚጮሁ፣ በየመድረኩ ለፍትህና ለህግ የበላይነት የሚታገሉ፣ ገንዘብ ጊዜያቸውን ለመስጠት
ወደሁዋላ የማይሉ በርካታ ወጣት ሴቶች በሀገርቤትና በመላው አለምም ተበትነው “ይህም ትውልድ ፍም እሳት ነው….
ኢትዮጵያዊነትን ማን ነው የሚደፍረው ማንስ ነው የሚለያየው እያሉ ነው።” እነርሱ ድምፃቸው ከፍ ብሎ በተሰማ መጠን
ከፋፋዮችና አገር አፍራሾች ሲከፋፈሉና ሲፈርሱ እያየንም ነው። ኢትዮጵያዊነትን መግደል ፈጽሞ አይቻልም የወጣቱ
መነሳሳት የዚህ እውነት ምስክርም ነው። አስተባባሪና መሪ ለመሆን ከመደራጀታችን በፊት ተባባሪ ለመሆን እንዘጋጅ። የትብብር ቁልፉ ከወዲያ ማዶ ያለውንም ወገን ሀሳብ መረዳትና አማካይ መንገድ መፈለጉ ነው። በመድረክ ላይና ከመድረኩ
ጀርባ የሚሰራው የተለያየ ከሆነ ምንም ስም ይሰጠው ትብብሩ የእንቧይ ካብ ይሆናል። በሚናደው የእንቧይ ካብ ውስጥ
መቆጠር ለአጥፊዎች ጉልበት መስጠት ብቻ ነው።
ወጣቶች በየክፍላተ ሀገራቱ እያሰሩና ሀብታቸውን እየዘረፉ መሬታቸውን እየነጠቁ ያሉትን መሳርያ አንስተው እየተፋለሙ
እያገቱና እያደኑ መደፈር በቃ! መረገጥ በቃ! መገዛት በቃ! እያሉ ነው። የትግራይ ወጣቶች በስማቸው ለሚሰራው ግፍ፣
በወገኖቻቸው ዘንድ ጥላቻን፣ መጠራጠርንና መፈራራትን የሚያመጣ ለዘላቂውም በቀሪው የኢትዮጵያ ሕዝብ ጥርስ
እንዲነከስባቸው የሚያደርጉትን ወሮበሎች በግልጽ መቃወም፣ በነፍጥም መፋለም በመጀመራቸው ለጎጠኞቹ የትግራይ
ዘራፊዎች ትግራይ መቀበርያ እንጂ መደበቂያ እንደማትሆን እያሳዩአቸው ነው። በርግጥም ኢትዮጵያውያንን በመከፋፈል
ኢትዮጵያን ማፍረስ እንደማይቻል መረዳት ስለምን አዳገታቸው?
ሰሞኑን በመላው ዐለም የሚታየው ሁኔታ በምስራቅ አፍሪካ ላይ የነጻነት ጮራ እየፈነጠቀ እንደሆነ ነው። የወሮበሎቹ
ተላላኪዎችና አሽከሮች በወጣት ታጋዮች መታደን ጀምረዋል፣ ይህም አስፈሪ እርምጃ ነው። በደቡብ አፍሪካ ለነጮቹ
አድረው ወገኖቻቸውን የሚሰልሉና የሚገድሉትን መክረውና ገዝተውም መመለስ ያልቻሉትን እያደኑ አንገታቸው ላይ ጎማ
አጥልቀው እሳት ይለቁባቸው ነበር። ያ እርምጃ ሆዳሞችን ያሸበረ ዘረኞችን ብቻቸውን ያስቀረ ነበር። የሀገራችን ፖሊሶች፣
የመከላከያ ሰራዊት አባላትም ከዘረኞችና ወርሮ-በላዎች ጉያ በመውጣት ወደ ሕዝቡ በመቀላቀል የሁላችንም የሆነች
ኢትዮጵያን ለመመስረት የሕዝብ ወገንተኛነት ሊያሳዩ ይገባል።
ወጣቶች ትናንትን ትተው ወደፊት እየገሰገሱ ነው። ትናንት የሆነው ሁሉ ለኢትዮጵያ ሲባል የሆነ ነውና አዛውንቱ ቂም
በቀልና መናቆርን፣ ከኔ በላይ ጀግናና አዋቂ የለም የሚለውን እምነትና ያልተወራረደውን ሂሳብ ለመዝጋት ተነጋግሮ ብሄራዊ
እርቅንም ለማምጣት በመጀመርያ ሀገር ሊኖረን ይገባል በሚል መጠላለፉን፣ መካሰሱንና መጠራጠሩን በመተው ይህንን
ሀገር ተረካቢ ወጣት ትናንት በተኬደበት መንገድ እንዳይሄድ፣ እንደ ከሸፉት አብዮቶች በደም ጎርፍ እንዳይታጠብ
የመጨረሻ ሙከራ ማድረጊያው ጊዜም አሁን ነው። በተለያየ የትግል መስክ ተሰማርተው ኢትዮጵያችንን ለመታደግ የቆረጡ
ወጣቶች ተስፋን የሚያለመልሙ የሀገራችንን ሕልውናና ክብር የሚያስመልሱ ናቸው። የ’ፍም እሳቶች’ እምቢ ባይነትና ጽናት
የሚያኮራንም ለዚህ ነው።

የድል ቀን እንዲፋጠን ሁላችንም እጅ ለእጅ ተያይዘን እንነሳ!
ዲሞክራሲያዊት ኢትዮጵያ በነጻነትና በክብር ለዘላለም ትኑር!

A must-watch ESAT Special on Ginbot 7 Meeting in Washington DC (Part 1)

Editor’s Note: On Sunday September 22, 2013, the Ginbot 7 leadership had a very revealing and open discussion in Washington DC meeting like it has never had before . As you know, the issue of working with Eritrea has been a bone in the throat for G7 as well as for its supporters around the world. Many have argued against using Eritrea as a spring board to wage an armed struggle against TPLF.

Opponents claim that Eritrea can not be trusted based on their experience with Isayas Afeworki so far and his public rhetoric as it relates to Ethiopia. They may have a point. But the problem is that they don’t practice the position they defend or argue for. They don’t provide an alternative and actually implement that alternative. For example, they don’t answer to the question of where to wage an armed struggle and show us the way by an example.  They don’t. For instance, what don’t they find a place within Ethiopia and wage an armed struggle? What do they go and practice what they preach instead of simply analyzing and arguing from the comfort of their homes in the West. What they do is simply disagree and sometimes with bitterness and even animosity against G7 position towards Eritrea.

Instead of making an honest and logical attempt to convince and win our support, those who oppose G7′s position in Eritrea use intimidation, name callings, insults, put downs and inuendos to impose their opinion on G7 and its supporters. But the irony is that these forces claim to believe and fight for democracy in Ethiopia and yet they impose their position on others. G7 has repeatedly expressed the right of any political entity to follow a path it believes in without imposing its policy or belief on any one else except asking their support. G7 has often made clear that it does not oppose other political parties who pursue a political path different than its own. It is interesting whether we know how to win support with a clean logical argument backed by results in the ground instead of an endless ineundos and name callings.

አንድነት ፓርቲ በመጪው እሁድ መስከረም 19 ከ33ቱ ፓርቲዎች ጋር ለሚያደርገው ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ የመኪና ላይ ቅስቀሳ ሲያደርጉ የነበሩ 15 አባላቱ ህገወጥ እስር ተፈፀመባቸው፡፡ አባላቱ ከስድስት ኪሎ ወደ አራት ኪሎ በሚወስደው ጎዳና በመኪና ላይ እየቀሰቀሱ ባለበት ወቅት ሚኒሊክ ት/ቤት ፊትለፊት የፖሊስና የደህንነት ኃይሎች የሚተላለፈውን መኪና መንገድ በመዝጋት ቅስቀሳውን አደናቅፈዋል፡፡

በስፍራው የነበሩ በርካታ ሰዎች “ቀስቃሾቹ ህጋዊ ወረቀት ይዘዋል፤ልቀቋቸው” በማለት ተቃውሞ አሰምተዋል ከአንድነት ፓርቲ ጎን እንደሚቆሙም ተናግረዋል፡፡ ፖሊስ 15 የሚሆኑትን የቅስቀሳ ቡድን አባላት ወደ ሁለተኛ ፖሊስ ጣቢያ ወስደዋቸዋል፡፡ የአንድነት ፓርቲ ከፍተኛ አመራሮች አባላቱ ወደ ታሰሩበት 2ኛ ፖሊስ ጣቢያ በመሄድ ረ/ኢ መንግስቱ ለማ የተባሉትን የፖሊስ ጣቢያው ኃላፊ የታሰሩት አባላት እንዲለቀቁ ጠይቀዋል፡፡ ኃላፊውም “ህጋዊ ሰልፍ እንደምታደርጉ እናውቃለን ይቀስቅሱ የሚል መመሪያ አልደረሰንም ብለዋል፡፡ አመራሮቹ የአዲስ አበባ ፖሊስ ኮሚሽነርንና የከተማዋን መስተዳድር ሃላፊዎች ለማነጋገር ተንቀሳቅሰዋል፡፡

በተለያየ አቅጣጫ የተሰማሩት ሌሎቹ የአንድነት ፓርቲ ቅስቀሳ ቡድን አባላት ስኬታማ የመኪና ላይ ቅስቀሳ በማደረግ ላይ ናቸው፡፡

በተያያዘም ዜና የአራት ኪሎ ነዋሪዎች እውቅና ተችሮታል የተባለን የአንድነት የመስከረም 19 ሰላማዊ ሰልፍ ህዝብ አሳታፊ ለማድረግ ዛሬ ማለዳ ከአንድነት ቢሮ በዛ ያሉ መኪኖች ለቅስቀሳ ወጥተዋል፡፡በአራት ኪሎና በአካባቢዋ የሚገኙ ኢትዮጵያዊያንን ለመቀስቀስ ከወጡ መኪኖች መካከል የተወሰኑት በፖሊስ በህገ ወጥ መንገድ በቁጥጥር ስር እንዲውሉ ተደርገዋል፡፡

በመኪኖቹ ውስጥ የነበሩትን የአንድነት አባላት ፖሊስ ወደ ጣብያ ለመውሰድ ባደረገው ሙከራ ህዝብ መሰብሰብ ችሏል፡፡ሁኔታውን በአንክሮ ይከታተል የነበረ ህዝብ ፖሊሶቹን ልጆቹን መውሰድ አትችሉም፣ሰልፉ እንደተፈቀደ እየታወቀ መቀስቀስ አትችሉም ማለታችሁ ህገ ወጥ ድርጊት ነው››በማለት እጅግ በሚያስደስት ሁኔታ ተከራክረዋል፡፡

አዎን ህገ ወጥ ድርጊት ሲፈጸም በእኔ ላይ ካልሆነ ምን አገባኝ ብለን የምናልፍበት ዘመን ማብቃት ይኖርበታል ፡፡

To Ethiopia's archaic left, which dominates the ruling party, the new euphemism for the west is neoliberal. Compared to the jargon of bygones days – imperialists – when Lenin and Mao were still in vogue, neoliberal sounds decidedly wimpy. But this hardly matters to Ethiopia's ruling party. What it seeks is a bogeyman to tamp down rising expectations for multiparty democracy.

To this end, plying nationalist sentiment is the easy option. And so, we get a tale of heroes and villains in which there is a defender of national ethos, honor and economic growth (inevitably, the ruling party), and a foreign horde bent on subversion, domination and economic exploitation (infallibly, the west: the neoliberals).
In this narrative, Ethiopia's recent economic growth, amidst a global slump, is ascribed to the stability

አጼ ኃይለሥላሴ በሰጡት ንጉሳዊ ብይን ያልተደሰተ ኢትዮጵያዊ ንጉሱ ፊት ቀርቦተቃውሞውን የማሰማት እድል ነበረው። እናም በንጉሱ ፊት “ጃንሆይ የሰጡትፍርድ ፍርደ-ገምድል ነው። አቤት እላለሁ” በማለት ምሬቱን ይገልጻል። ንጉሱም“ከእኛ በላይ ማን አለና ነው…ለማን ነው አቤት የምትለው?” ብለው ይጠይቁታል።“ሁሉን ለሚችል አምላክ እንጂ ለሌላ ለማን ይነገራል” ብሎ መለሰላቸው። ንጉሱምበሚታወቁበት ርጋታቸው ከፈገግታ ጋር “እኛን ቀብቶ ያነገስን ማን ነው እና ነውለእግዚያብሄር ይግባኝ የምትለው” ብለው መለሱለት ይባላል። ከዓመታት በፊትኢትዮጵያ ውስጥ መጽሄት ሳነብ (ጦቢያ ላይ ይመስለኛል) ያገኘሁትን ነውያካፈልኩት። ተደርጎ ይሆናል። ውጭያዊ ምክንያቶችን እንደተጠበቁ ሆነው የለውጥሃሳብን ከኢትዮጵያዊነት እና ከኢትዮጵያዊ አስተሳሰብ ጋር ማዋኽድ ስለተሳነውበ1966 የፈነዳው ዓብዮት ዛሬም ድረስ ባይሳካም ፤ በወቅቱ የተወሰደው እሳትየለበስ እሳት የጎረሰ የፓለቲካ ርምጃ ጥሩ ነበር መጥፎ የሚለውን ብይን ለየራሳችንትተን ለውጡ በማያሻማ ሁኔታ ትቶት የሄደውን  ትምህርት ግን ማስታወስያስፈልጋል።የህዝብ የቁጣ ሰይፍ ሲመዘዝ በነማን ላይ እንዳነጣጠረ የሚስተው ሰውያለ አይመስለኝም።
